Local Innkeeper on to be put on Trial!
The past week has not been a good one for renowned local entrepreneur Halof Hjortsson, proprietor of the luxurious Bridge Inn. Just months after recieving the coveted Golden Guar award from the Soluthis Chamber of Commerce for excellence in the hospitality industry, Mr Hjortsson has in a single week been accused of magically tainting food and involved in a brawl with his accuser, a Mr Arterius of Caldera, Vvardenfell.
Today Mr Hjortsson was remanded before the Steadhelm District Court on charge of six counts of breaches of trade description and one of unauthorised magic usage. A separate charge of assault against Mr Arterius was yesterday dismissed by the Court on grounds of extreme provocation.
Hjortsson furiously denied all the charges against him, vowing to fight "All the way to the Court of the Emperor's Bench in Cyrodiil if need be!" In an interview after the hearing, he accused Mr Arterius of "malicious slander motivated by envy." The trial will begin at an unconfirmed date in the next three weeks, after the conclusion of the Mages' Guild's investigation into the alleged magical enhancement of the Bridge Inn's food.
In a surprising twist to the story, our investigative reporters yesterday discovered via a contact in Winterhold, Skyrim, that Mr Arterius is in fact the estranged brother of Mr Hjortsson's ex-wife, formerly Gelendria Arterius. Where will this turn of events lead to next? Be sure to buy your copy of the Steadhelm Sentinel to find out! |
Thanks and for JK's advise!

I'm thinking that will be the last of the Innkeeper saga for now. My idea was that reading it would trigger a quest in which the player can attempt to exonerate the Innkeeper (if they succeed, they get free drinks in the Bridge Inn for life and an extra edition of the Sentinel comes out describing the player's actions).

Refugee ship docks at Steadhelm!
As all of Morrowind still lies stunned by the news of the razing of Ald-Ruhn, the repercussions from this catastrophe have reached even our own peaceful town!
Two days ago a ship, loaded with refugees from the stricken Redoran capital, arrived at the Steadhelm docks. Exclusively, the Steadhelm Sentinel brings to you eyewitness accounts of the Daedric Invasion!
"Almsivi save us! It was horriffic!" was all we could get out of one terrified victim. Some survivors were angry rather than fearful. "I knew this would happen," said XXXXX, spitting onto the ground, "I said, this is the sort of thing that happens when the people abandon their ancestors and start worshipping those upstart Imperial godlings. But did they listen? No." Others were less eager to cast blame. "It's just as I feared - they must have been right when they said the Tribunes were dead," said a tearful former Priest, "In the old days, they would have stopped the Daedra. But where are they now?"
From many testimonies, we managed to piece together some of the events that led the ship and its crew to our shores. When the first wave of attackers fell upon Ald'Ruhn, the Legion Fort Buckmoth had to be abandoned in order to reinforce the city walls. With the path to the city blocked to the unarmed by an Oblivion Gate, civilians trapped in the fort at the time of the attack had no choice but to flee to the coast.
"It was purely by chance that I was at the dock when they arrived," said the Captain of the vessel to our reporters, "I was anchored at Gnaar Mok taking on board a shipment of Kwama eggs bound for Cyrodiil when I saw the refugees come over the hill. I smelt smoke on the wind and knew something was wrong. I thought Red Mountain had erupted."
The ship barely had time to cast off as another gate to Oblivion opened within sight of the village. The inhabitants fled in whatever ships, rowing boats and makeshift rafts were available. While most headed for Hla Oad further down the Vvardenfell coast, the cargo ship set sail for the safety of the open sea.
The Steadhelm Sentinel joins the town in welcoming the refugees and expressing sorrow for their losses. Yet it seems there is still fight left in some of them: "I'm only sorry I got this leg wound," commented Insert Name Here, a former Watchman of the city, "I fought those fetchers at the Fort as long as I could, and Almsivi willing I'd still be back there in the ruins trying to shut those gates."

Here's the next one. I need some names for the characters!
Local Man Makes Dwarf Discovery!
When digging a new midden in a back garden, most of use would be happy if we were to find an old coin buried in the dirt. But last week local craftsman Ildean found something much bigger - a group of buried relics from the lost civilisation of the Dwarves!
Our reporters were unable to interview Ildean about his discovery, as he was apparently still being questioned by local authorities about the circumstances of the find. Nevertheless, we were able to discern that the remains include many fragments of armor, an alchemical device and several metal cubes of intricate design.
"This is very exciting," Master Vanco Valean of the Steadhelm Mages' Guild told our reporter, "These finds show that the Dwemer had a presence in this area much later than had previously been believed. They are the first new artefacts to be uncovered in this region since the Great Excavations led by Zurin Arctus over four hundred years ago. It's a sure sign that there are still many more discoveries to be made."
In a surprise announcement yesterday, the Mayor revealed that owing to the unstable situation in Cyrodiil, the artefacts will not be transported to the Arcane Archives, as would normally be the case. Following a special dispensation by the Office of Provincial Affairs, they will be displayed for the education of the public in the Steadhelm Mages' Guild. Viewing will be allowed between 12am and 4pm, by appointment only.
The Steadhelm Sentinel wishes to remind readers that all Dwarven Artefacts found within the Province of Morrowind are legally the property of the Imperial Crown, and that their hoarding or sale is strictly forbidden.

Minor Earthquake Shakes Steadhelm!
Living in such close proximity to the largest volcano in the world, the bold citizens of Steadhelm are no strangers to occasional earth tremors. However, the earthquake which took place yesterday, shortly before noon, was of a larger and more powerful nature. Although nobody was injured, there are reports of several windows being broken and even a rowing boat being capsized in the harbour by a small tsunami.
Vanco Valean, head of the Steadhelm Mages' Guild, was anxious to assure worried citizens that the earthquake was an entirely supernatural occurrence: "Our colleagues in Caldera have been monitoring Red Mountain ever since the Blight disappeared. There is no evidence that an eruption is imminent. This earthquake was most likely caused by the migration of evil spirits following the vanquishing of one of the few remaining Ash Vampires by Temple Ordinators two months ago."
Local priest of the Divines, Smart-Snake, was also quick to dismiss notions that the earthquake was a divine omen. "I've never heard such nonsense. With the Pact broken and the hordes of the Enemy ravening at the gates of Tamriel, do you think there would be any point in the Divines sending us signs? The world's ending already! What more do you need?"
None of this was of much comfort to those unfortunate citizens whose boat was upturned yesterday. The nervous response to the earthquake is a worrying sign of the tension in the town following recent events in Cyrodiil.

I added the finished (6) broadsheets to Steadhelm28 (screenshots) and created two placeholder textures, the normal map is a placeholder as well.
The broadsheets will be added to other locations like the inns (SHC08/43), castle (SHC23) etc.
If you're a texturer please check this post.
After I finished the script for Soluthis0909 I'll add a similar script for the Steadhelm Sentinel. The different copies will become available after the PC read the prior version.
Many thanks to Deeza for writing these broadsheets.

That looks great! Nice to see it in-game.
Do you need any more, or is 6 enough?

Famous Bard to Visit Steadhelm
It has recently come to the Sentinel's attention, via a contact in the Royal Court of Mournhold, that the famous bard and composer Kunussanushu is planning to visit Steadhelm for a rare public performance.
Widely considered to be one of the most brilliant young musicians in Tamriel, Kunussanushu traces his unusual music style to his equally unusual upbringing. Born into the Urshilaku tribe of Ashlanders on Vvardenfell, he was orphaned as a baby and brought up by his aunt, a witch and mystic who taught him the ancient ceremonial music of the Velothi.
As a young man, he left the tribe following the death of his aunt, and travelled to the south of Morrowind, where he encountered the rich musical traditions of Great House Dres. Creating a distinctive fusion of Velothi and Court music, Kunussanushu rose rapidly to fame, playing for the Council of Great House Dres and, later, for such luminaries as Duke Vedam Dren and several Imperial Counts during a visit to Cyrodiil.
Kunussanushu reached the height of his fame when he was invited to perform at the Royal Court in Mournhold, where for the past three years he has held the prestigious position of Royal Praise-Singer, producing numerous odes in honour of His Majesty King Helseth.
Temporarily released from his duties, Kunussanushu has announced that over the next sixth months he will tour the northern regions of mainland Morrowind in search of fresh inspiration. This tour will include several public performances, including one to be held at Steadhelm. Admittance will be be free, though space in the town center is likely to be limited.
